The Oculus Quest 2 would soon not require a mandatory Facebook account

If you aren’t new to the game, Facebook has made it compulsory for everyone to connect their personal Facebook accounts to the Quest 2 to be able to use it. You can even get your device banned if you do not use your Facebook account for the headset.

During the Facebook connect Livestream, CEO Mark Zuckerberg, along with the announcement of the company’s name change to Meta, announced that Oculus headsets would soon not require a mandatory Facebook personal account login to use.

“As we’ve focused more on work, and frankly as we’ve heard your feedback more broadly, we’re working on making it so you can log in into Quest with an account other than your personal Facebook account,” said Mark Zuckerberg during his keynote.

This is a BIG announcement for all VR enthusiasts who wanted to get their hands on quest 2 but couldn’t because of Facebook’s (now, Meta) relentless policies. Facebook hasn’t been one for the people for a long time, with the company being repeatedly blamed for selling private information from it’s users.

The mandatory login has been a bummer for various people who were interested in the revolutionary Quest 2, which is a significant upgrade from the original Quest and doesn’t require a PC to run.

This might be good news for you, for if you don’t have a beefy gaming pc and want to try a VR headset, the oculus quest 2 might just be the one you want. And with Cyber Monday on it’s way, you may as well get some great deals on the headset itself and some games to tag along with it.

Thank you for reading.
